Bay State Breakers holds on for 4-3 win against Junior Bruins

Junior Bruins tried to dig itself out of a four-goal hole, but Bay State Breakers held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by James Crockett put Bay State Breakers up 4-0 in the second period, but Junior Bruins pulled to within one on Jake McKinnon's tally 11:51 into the third period.

Bay State Breakers got the win with help from a great game by Thomas Cahill, who had one goal and three assists. Cahill scored on the power play 3:19 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Bay State Breakers. Bay State Breakers earned a power play opportunity when Jordan Hanahan was put in the box for tripping. Mason Sloan assisted on the tally.

Team could not crack Junior Bruins' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

David Hasenfuss also scored for Bay State Breakers. Other players who recorded assists for Bay State Breakers were Bryan Bachelder and Francis OBrien, who each chipped in one.

Junior Bruins did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Junior Bruins puts an average of 6.1 pucks into the net per game. Junior Bruins kept Bay State Breakers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Keith Inman made 31 saves on 34 shots. Junior Bruins' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Junior Bruins finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Junior Bruins was led by Tyler Kirby, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Kirby scored 3:49 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Bay State Breakers. Ryan Azar picked up the assist. Junior Bruins also got a goal from Michael Centerbar as well. More assists for Junior Bruins came via John Buchanan and Zachery Masotta, who contributed one a piece.

Bay State Breakers ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Mario Pizzeri took the loss and made 12 saves before being replaced by Benjamin Gagnon who made 14 saves. Junior Bruins registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
