Mass Maple Leafs rips Islanders Hockey Club, 6-2

Mass Maple Leafs had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Islanders Hockey Club.

Joseph Fernandes had one goal and two assists to lead Mass Maple Leafs. Fernandes scored 10:47 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Mass Maple Leafs.

In the losing effort, Islanders Hockey Club was paced by Ryan Loranger, who had two goals. Loranger scored the first of his two goals at 32 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mass Maple Leafs. Loranger's next tally made the score 2-2 with 18:00 left in the second period. Thomas Labore provided the assist.

Mass Maple Leafs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Islanders Hockey Club power plays. Islanders Hockey Club was unable to stop Mass Maple Leafs from sending pucks towards the net, and Mass Maple Leafs eventually piled up 65 shots on goal. Mass Maple Leafs was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time.

Mass Maple Leafs also got points from Colin Cordeiro, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mass Maple Leafs also got a goal from Samuel Jenkins as well. In addition, Mass Maple Leafs received assists from Ian Maisonneuve, Trevor Berman, Jacob Dyl, and Emilio Botelho, who contributed one a piece.

Islanders Hockey Club racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Islanders Hockey Club had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. Islanders Hockey Club stifled Mass Maple Leafs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Mass Maple Leafs' Brenton Petrowski stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Mass Maple Leafs registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Evan King recorded 59 saves for Islanders Hockey Club.
