Mass Maple Leafs survives Bay State Breakers comeback, wins 3-1

Mass Maple Leafs survived a determined comeback attempt by Bay State Breakers on the way to a 3-1 win.

A goal by Ryan McCarthy put Mass Maple Leafs up 3-0 in the third period, but Bay State Breakers pulled to within two on Ryan Gaucher's tally 19:09 into the third period.

Mass Maple Leafs pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Mass Maple Leafs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bay State Breakers to score on any of its seven power plays. Mass Maple Leafs could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Mass Maple Leafs puts an average of 5.6 pucks into the net per game. Mass Maple Leafs forced Bay State Breakers goalie Kirby Saari to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

Mass Maple Leafs was helped by Nicholas Menzel, who registered one goal. Menzel scored 13:05 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Mass Maple Leafs. Trevor Berman picked up the assist. Mass Maple Leafs also got a goal from Ian Maisonneuve as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mass Maple Leafs were Sidney Thomas, Adam McGrath, Michael Sorenti, Kurtis Garcia, and Caleb Doherty, who contributed one a piece.

Bay State Breakers stifled Mass Maple Leafs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Bay State Breakers was held below its usual level of production. Bay State Breakers averages 3.1 goals per game.

More assists for Bay State Breakers came via Michael Williams and Nicholas Guidry, who each chipped in one.
