New York Apple Core and Suffolk Juniors were evenly matched throughout their contest, but New York Apple Core made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Joe Finneran's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Finneran was all over the ice for New York Apple Core, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Finneran scored the first of his two goals at 12:55 into the second period to make the score 3-2 New York Apple Core. Andrew Cunningham provided the assist. Finneran's next tally made the score 4-2 New York Apple Core with 4:47 left in the third period. New York Apple Core had gotten the advantage when Suffolk Juniors' Steven Azzara was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Travis Quigley picked up the assist. New York Apple Core's Dominic Lamanno was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 32 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Lamanno will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.08 entering the contest. New York Apple Core put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Suffolk Juniors to score on any of its five power plays. Suffolk Juniors was unable to stop New York Apple Core from sending pucks towards the net, and New York Apple Core eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. New York Apple Core additionally got points from Michael Buffoleno, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kyle Becker also scored for New York Apple Core. Other players who recorded assists for New York Apple Core were Thomas McGovern and Kieran Hurley, who each chipped in one. Suffolk Juniors did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Suffolk Juniors puts an average of 5.6 pucks into the net per game. Suffolk Juniors' offense rang up 39 shots on New York Apple Core's net. Suffolk Juniors could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. Suffolk Juniors was helped by Michael Vaiano, who racked up one goal. Vaiano scored 1:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Suffolk Juniors. Suffolk Juniors also got a goal from Anthony Modica as well. In addition, Suffolk Juniors received assists from Alex Posillico, who had one. New York Apple Core incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Eric Tatarian rejected 29 shots on goal for Suffolk Juniors.
