East Coast uses big second period to beat Potomac, 8-3

The East Coast Eagles scored four goals in the second period to pull away from the Potomac Patriots and clinch an 8-3 win.

Jacob Weldon had two goals and one assist to lead East Coast. Weldon scored the first of his two goals short handed at 6:31 into the second period to make the score 4-1 East Coast. Graff Richards picked up the assist. Weldon's next tally short handed made the score 8-3 East Coast with 3:13 left in the third period. Bailey King provided the assist.

The Eagles' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Potomac power plays. Potomac was unable to stop East Coast from sending pucks towards the net, and the Eagles eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. East Coast bested its season scoring average. The Eagles have scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign.

East Coast also got points from Todd Jackson, who also grabbed two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, King, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Christopher Grosvenor, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Collin Duffy also scored for East Coast. More assists for East Coast came via Matthew Burleson, who had three and John Ryan and Kyle Levere, who contributed one a piece.

The Patriots were helped by Miles Miller, who racked up one goal and one assist. Miller scored 55 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Potomac. Nicholas Grose assisted on the tally. Potomac also got a goal from Tyler Nolan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Potomac were Judd Parker and Remi Paine, who each chipped in one.

Conner Fissel recorded 25 saves for East Coast. The Eagles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Potomac's Patrick Anderson stopped 30 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Patriots incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
