Florida Eels vanquishes Tampa Bay in shootout, 6-5 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Florida Eels defeated the Tampa Bay Juniors in a shootout 6-5 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Tampa Bay got a shootout goal from Zachary Capco. In addition to the clincher, Florida Eels got a shootout goal from Reid Halabi.

Florida Eels overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Florida Eels fell behind 5-3 after a power play goal by the Juniors' Capco at 12:38 in the second period. Florida Eels tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Halabi at 10:54 in the third period.

Brandon Hotaling had a great game for Florida Eels, netting two goals. Hotaling found the back of the net 11:16 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 11:34 into the second to make the score 3-3.

Tampa Bay was unable to stop Florida Eels from sending pucks towards the net, and Florida Eels eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Florida Eels additionally got points from Daniel Boyd, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Joshua DeLezenne also scored for Florida Eels. Other players who recorded assists for Florida Eels were Ryan Deese and Keanu Gallegos, who contributed one a piece and Matthew Kiesel, Patrick Daniels, and Max Mazzullo, who each chipped in two.

The Juniors forced Florida Eels goalie Marc Terriault to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

Tampa Bay also got points from Jonathan Hall, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Nicholas Frankich, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Tampa Bay came via Nicholas Mattone, who had two and Nicholas Reed, Brent Barber, and Brendan Nicholson, who contributed one a piece.

Marc Terriault made 41 saves for Florida Eels on 46 shots. Florida Eels incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kyle Gertz rejected 27 shots on goal for Tampa Bay. The Juniors incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
