OMaley, Jersey Hitmen blank Jersey Wildcats, 8-0

Michael OMaley was superb between the pipes for Jersey Hitmen, as he did not allow a goal in an 8-0 victory over Jersey Wildcats.

Jersey Hitmen was led by Andrew Callahan, who had one goal and one assist. Callahan scored on the power play 6:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Jersey Hitmen. Jersey Hitmen earned a power play opportunity when Christopher Sanchez was put in the box for interference. Robby Marsanico assisted on the tally.

Jersey Hitmen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Wildcats to score on any of its five power plays. Jersey Hitmen's defensive play was more effective than usual against Jersey Wildcats. Jersey Hitmen averages 2.3 goals allowed per game. Jersey Hitmen's offense rang up 50 shots on Jersey Wildcats' net. Jersey Hitmen surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Jersey Hitmen has scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Jersey Hitmen was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 18 penalty minutes.

Jersey Hitmen also got points from Eddie Coxe, who also registered one goal and one assist, Marsanico, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Rory Garlasco, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jersey Hitmen also had goals scored by Luke Rodgers, who had two and Corey Leskanic and Brendan Riley, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Hitmen were Cody Calcagno, Justin McKenzie, and James Felice, who contributed one a piece and Chris Peterson and James Martello, who each chipped in two.

Jersey Wildcats could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Jersey Wildcats puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Jersey Wildcats forced Jersey Hitmen goalie OMaley to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Jersey Wildcats struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Jersey Hitmen to score three power play goals on four chances.

Michael OMaley made 34 saves for Jersey Hitmen on 34 shots. Gennaro Anzevino rejected 42 shots on goal for Jersey Wildcats. Jersey Wildcats incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
