New Hampshire boosted by Burack's play in net, beats Springfield 5-1Olympia Ice Center Sun, Mar 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Cole Burack helped the New Hampshire Jr Monarchs defeat the Springfield Pics, 5-1. New Hampshire was led by Christopher Moquin, who registered one goal and one assist. Moquin scored 13:37 into the second period to make the score 2-0 New Hampshire. Brett Boyer assisted on the tally. The Jr Monarchs racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game New Hampshire had been spending in the box. The Jr Monarchs made Springfield's goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Ian Milosz made 19 stops and Matthew Blascak made 14. New Hampshire stifled the Pics' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. New Hampshire additionally got points from Connor Merrick, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Shane Tracy, who also had one goal and one assist, and Boyer, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Brian Greene also scored for New Hampshire. More assists for New Hampshire came via Ross Mandigo, Nate OBrien, Ty Anderson, and Brent Beaudoin, who contributed one a piece. Springfield did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Pics put an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. Springfield's penalty kill unit could not stop the Jr Monarchs' power play, which converted on three of three opportunities. Burack recorded 29 saves for New Hampshire. The Pics incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
