Maksymum downs Portland, 6-1

Mikel Williams registered two points to lead the Maksymum Junior Hockey (Rochester) to a 6-1 victory over the Portland Jr Pirates.

Maksymum stifled Portland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr Pirates were unable to stop the Junior Hockey (Rochester) from sending pucks towards the net, and Maksymum eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Junior Hockey (Rochester)'s goal total was higher than their season average. Maksymum averages 3.8 goals per game. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) found themselves short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Maksymum additionally got points from Michael Whitehair, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Maksymum also got a goal from Holvey as well. In addition, Maksymum received assists from Kevin Geeza, who had two and Gregory Miller, Daniel Goldstein, Tanner Woodruff, Thomas Grammatico, Bryan Carville, Corey Sherman, William Holbrook, and Kevin DiMagno, who contributed one a piece.

Portland put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Maksymum to score on any of its four power plays.

The Jr Pirates were led by Matt Ross, who scored the team's only goal. Ross scored 8:17 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nicholas Whitten assisted on the tally.

Ian Sylves recorded 21 saves for the Junior Hockey (Rochester). Portland's Cam Riddle stopped 33 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Jr Pirates incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
