Jersey Hitmen rips Suffolk, 4-1

The Suffolk Juniors had trouble finding ways to stop Jersey Hitmen, which beat Juniors, 4-1.

Corey Leskanic was all over the ice for Jersey Hitmen, as he registered two goals in the win. Leskanic found the back of the net 11:42 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Jersey Hitmen and again while short handed 13:22 into the third to make the score 3-0 Jersey Hitmen.

Jersey Hitmen's Michael OMaley was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 25 saves and let only one puck past him. OMaley managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.35 prior to the game.

Jersey Hitmen forced Suffolk goalie Peter Fosso to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Jersey Hitmen could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Luke Rodgers also scored for Jersey Hitmen. In addition, Jersey Hitmen received assists from Cory Sala, Chris Peterson, Eddie Coxe, and Glenn Florczak, who each chipped in one and James Martello and Ruslan Rakhmatov, who contributed two a piece.

The Juniors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Hitmen to score on any of its five power plays. Suffolk could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Juniors were led by Nicholas Ambery, who scored the team's only goal. Ambery scored on the power play 14:27 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Jersey Hitmen. A tripping penalty on Martello had put Suffolk on the power play. Nicholas Mangone assisted on the tally.

Peter Fosso made 37 saves for the Juniors on 40 shots. Suffolk registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
