Atlanta rips Potomac, 12-2Marietta Ice Center Sat, Feb 16, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Atlanta Knights were firing on all cylinders against the Potomac Patriots, and when the final buzzer sounded Knights emerged with a 12-2 win. Atlanta got the win thanks to a great game by Kienan Fenton, who had one goal and two assists. Fenton scored 10:44 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Dumond provided the assist. The Knights racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 49 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game Atlanta had been spending in the box. The Knights made Patriots' goaltenders to work all game long, ripping 68 shots and forcing 56 saves. Patrick Anderson made 55 stops and TJ Hollen made one. Atlanta found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Knights average 4.5 goals per contest. Atlanta got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed five goals during the game. Atlanta also got points from Se Kim, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Patrick MacDonald, who also registered two goals and one assist, Zachary Egan, who also had two goals and one assist, Alex MacInnis, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Cole Stallard, who also registered one goal and one assist. Bradley Harley also scored for Atlanta. In addition, Atlanta received assists from Rick Fiorillo, Christopher Santa Maria, and Nick Elliott, who contributed one a piece and Austin Ventura and Jack Trischett, who each chipped in two. Potomac excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Patriots were helped by Michael Santiago, who grabbed one goal. Santiago scored on the power play 4:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Potomac. An interference penalty on Jon Gibson had put Potomac on the power play. Joseph Welsh picked up the assist. Potomac also got a goal from Miles Miller as well. Other players who recorded assists for Potomac were Robert Stone, who had one. Sean Davis recorded 19 saves for the Knights. For Atlanta, Santa Maria was ejected from the game. The Patriots incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
