Seifert leads Syracuse over Brewster, 4-1Brewster Ice Arena Sat, Feb 16, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Syracuse Junior Stars relied on the sparkling performance of Matt Schneider in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Brewster Bulldogs. Syracuse got the win thanks to a great game by Mike Seifert, who had one goal and two assists. Seifert scored on the power play 18:20 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Syracuse. The Junior Stars had gotten the advantage when Brewster's Blaze Vogliano was sent off for tripping. Joey Rutkowski assisted on the tally. Syracuse's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Brewster power plays. The Junior Stars' offense rang up 36 shots on the Bulldogs' net. Syracuse additionally got points from Nate Zweig, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Anthony Angello, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Matt Madden also scored for Syracuse. Brewster could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Bulldogs put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Brewster kept Syracuse's goalie busy throughout the game, and Schneider made 30 saves on 31 shots. The Bulldogs were led by Christopher Litwin, who scored the team's only goal. Litwin scored 10:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. David Rubenstein provided the assist. The Junior Stars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brandon Belz recorded 32 saves for Brewster. The Bulldogs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
