Jersey Hitmen takes care of Connecticut early, wins 6-0

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Connecticut Oilers, which could not recover and fell to Jersey Hitmen, 6-0.

Cody Calcagno was all over the ice for Jersey Hitmen, as he tallied two goals in the win. Calcagno's tallies came at 3:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Jersey Hitmen and on the power play 33 seconds into the third to make the score 5-0 Jersey Hitmen.

Jersey Hitmen made Connecticut's goalies to work without much rest, finishing with 51 shots and forcing 45 saves. Millendorf made 35 stops and Christopher Bastone made 10. Jersey Hitmen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Connecticut power plays. Jersey Hitmen's defense was surprisingly good. Jersey Hitmen allows 2.4 goals per game. The defensemen of Jersey Hitmen were also effective in the Oilers' zone, and came away with two goals.

Jersey Hitmen additionally got points from James Martello, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Jersey Hitmen also had goals scored by Glenn Florczak, who had one and Justin McKenzie, who had two. More assists for Jersey Hitmen came via Joe Campisano and David Kleyman, who each chipped in one and Cory Sala, Luke Rodgers, and Brendan Riley, who contributed two a piece.

Connecticut did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Oilers average 2.8 goals per game.

Michael OMaley rejected 24 shots on goal for Jersey Hitmen. Jersey Hitmen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Connecticut incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
