Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Hampton Roads Whalers defeated the East Coast Eagles in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. East Coast got a shootout goal from Graff Richards. Hampton Roads also got a shootout goal from Jacob Toro.The Whalers overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Hampton Roads trailed 2-1 after a goal by the Eagles' Richards at 17:53 in the second period. The Whalers tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Jeremy Wilson at 12:16 in the third period. Hampton Roads was led by Wilson, who registered one goal. The Whalers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow East Coast to score on any of its three power plays. The Eagles were unable to stop Hampton Roads from sending pucks towards the net, and the Whalers eventually piled up 62 shots on goal. Hampton Roads also got points from Samuel Jenkins, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Hampton Roads were Dillon Kivo, who had two. East Coast forced Hampton Roads goalie Tyler Kraft to work between the pipes, taking 64 shots. The Eagles found themselves short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays. More assists for East Coast came via Jacob Weldon, who had two and Connor Sheehey and Thomas Gilmartin, who contributed one a piece. The Whalers' Kraft stopped 62 shots out of the 64 that he faced. Hampton Roads incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Conner Fissel recorded 59 saves for East Coast.
