Junior Bruins vanquishes New Hampshire in shootout, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Junior Bruins defeated the New Hampshire Jr Monarchs in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. New Hampshire's shootout goal was scored by Shane Tracy. Junior Bruins' other shootout goal was scored by Zach Koonce.

Junior Bruins overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Junior Bruins was down 2-0 after a goal by the Jr Monarchs' Tracy at 12:04 in the first period. Junior Bruins tied things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Brent Beaudoin at 17:59 in the third period.

Junior Bruins was led by Ryan OToole, who finished with one goal. OToole scored 18:14 into the first period to make the score 2-1 New Hampshire. Brian Fahey assisted on the tally.

Junior Bruins' offense rang up 37 shots on New Hampshire's net. Junior Bruins struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Jr Monarchs to score two power play goals on three chances. Junior Bruins' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Junior Bruins is averaging 1.9 goal against for the season.

Junior Bruins also got points from Alexander Pantalone, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Junior Bruins also got a goal from Robert Houghton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Junior Bruins were Matthew Brett, Kyle Webb, Benjamin Piecz, Koonce, and Vince DAmato, who contributed one a piece.

New Hampshire kept Junior Bruins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Sam Dargene made 30 saves on 34 shots. The Jr Monarchs' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. New Hampshire gives up 2.1 goals per game.

New Hampshire additionally got points from Ross Mandigo, who also had one goal and one assist and Tracy, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for New Hampshire came via Shane Earley, Nate OBrien, Daniel Nolte, Christopher Moquin, and Michael Bears, who each chipped in one.

Junior Bruins incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cole Burack recorded 32 saves for the Jr Monarchs. New Hampshire incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
