Palmer leads New Hampshire to shutout victory over Portland

Dylan Palmer recorded a shutout against the Portland Jr Pirates as the New Hampshire Jr Monarchs picked up a 6-0 win.

New Hampshire was paced by Davis Algra, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Algra scored 2:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hampshire. Michael Bears provided the assist.

The Jr Monarchs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Portland to score on any of its five power plays. New Hampshire kept the Jr Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Tracy made 75 saves on 81 shots. The Jr Monarchs' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as New Hampshire finished with 58 penalty minutes.

New Hampshire also had goals scored by Adriano Mungioli, who had one and Shane Tracy and Christopher Moquin, who each put in two. More assists for New Hampshire came via Connor Merrick, who had two and Nicholas McNally, Brian Greene, Brendan Tazumi, and Brett Boyer, who each chipped in one.

Portland was often in penalty trouble, totaling 17 minors and one major for 69 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 25.0 minutes per game the Jr Pirates had been spending in the box. Portland could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Jr Pirates put an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game. The Jr Monarchs were unable to stop Portland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr Pirates eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Palmer recorded 38 saves for New Hampshire. The Jr Monarchs registered three goals on 14 power play opportunities.
