Huge game by Koonce boosts Junior Bruins over Valley, 5-2

Behind a great game by Zach Koonce, who had two goals and one assist, Junior Bruins defeated the Valley Junior Warriors, 5-2.

Koonce found the back of the net 2:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Junior Bruins and again while short handed 18:32 into the first to make the score 3-1 Junior Bruins.

Junior Bruins' offense rang up 39 shots on Valley's net.

Brian Fahey also scored for Junior Bruins. More assists for Junior Bruins came via Bryan Carter, Mike Kantorski, Kyle Carlson, Robert Houghton, and Ryan OToole, who each chipped in one and Alexander Pantalone and Anthony Galloway, who contributed two a piece.

The Junior Warriors struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Valley was helped by Lincoln Vamos, who finished with one goal. Vamos scored on the power play 4:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Junior Bruins. The Junior Warriors had gained a power play chance when Thomas Graham was whistled for hooking. Luke Miller picked up the assist. Valley also got a goal from Matthew Culot as well.

Maxwell Barr rejected 23 shots on goal for Junior Bruins. Junior Bruins incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Matthew Saraceno made 34 saves for Valley on 39 shots. The Junior Warriors registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
