Adirondack rolls over Buffalo, 6-1

The Adirondack Junior Wings had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Buffalo Stars.

Adirondack's penalty kill excelled, as the Junior Wings gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Adirondack was paced by Sam Vincent, who racked up one goal and one assist. Vincent scored 9:39 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Adirondack. Ryan Flynn provided the assist.

The Junior Wings racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18.0 minutes per game Adirondack had been spending in the box. The Junior Wings forced Buffalo goalie Lawson Fenton to work between the pipes, taking 66 shots. Adirondack bested its season scoring average. This season, the Junior Wings average 3.0 goals per contest.

Adirondack additionally got points from Andrew Bourdeau, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Matt Flynn, who also registered one goal and one assist, Cam Shepardson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Andrew Mundweiler, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Dustin Lavalley also scored for Adirondack. In addition, Adirondack received assists from Matt State and Nicholas Oda, who contributed one a piece.

Matt Cologgi recorded 24 saves for Adirondack. The Junior Wings registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. For Adirondack, Kevin Stoya was ejected from the game. Lawson Fenton made 60 saves for the Stars on 66 shots. Buffalo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
