Junior Bruins holds on for 3-2 win against Portland

Junior Bruins survived a determined comeback attempt by the Portland Jr Pirates on the way to a 3-2 win.

Junior Bruins took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Portland storm back on a Nathan Bergeron goal 19:28 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Junior Bruins was paced by Zachary Byczko, who registered one goal and one assist. Byczko scored 18:57 into the third period to make the score Junior Bruins. Thomas Fahey provided the assist.

Junior Bruins put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr Pirates to score on any of their five power plays. Junior Bruins kept Portland's goalie busy throughout the game, and Maxwell Boucher made 43 saves on 46 shots.

Junior Bruins also got a goal from Ryan OToole as well. Other players who recorded assists for Junior Bruins were Vince DAmato, who had two and Alexander Pantalone and Matthew Brett, who contributed one a piece.

Junior Bruins was unable to stop the Jr Pirates from sending pucks towards the net, and Portland eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Liam Slyne also scored for Portland. In addition, Portland received assists from Robert Downing, Dakota Keene, and Ryan Locke, who each chipped in one.

Junior Bruins' Maxwell Barr stopped 33 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Junior Bruins incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Jr Pirates incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
