The East Coast Eagles tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Hampton Roads Whalers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 7-5. Hampton Roads made the score 7-4 on a goal by Jeremy Wilson at 3:32 in the third period, and East Coast got as close as 7-5 when Jacob Weldon scored 5:56 into the third period. Alexander Dempsey had two goals and five assists to lead the Whalers. Dempsey scored the first of his two goals at 5:18 into the first period to make the score 3-2 East Coast. Wilson picked up the assist. Dempsey's next tally made the score 6-4 Hampton Roads with 2:29 left in the second period. Wilson provided the assist. Hampton Roads racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 12 minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game the Whalers had been spending in the box. Hampton Roads' goal total was higher than its season average. The Whalers have scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign. Hampton Roads also got points from Wilson, who also racked up three goals and two assists and Regen Cavanagh, who also registered one goal and two assists. East Coast additionally got points from Christopher Grosvenor, who also had one goal and one assist. Kyle Levere also scored for East Coast.
