Sibilia's hat trick boosts Springfield over Salem, 14-3

The Salem Ice Dogs could not stop the Springfield Pics' Nicholas Sibilia, who tallied a hat trick in a 14-3 win.

Sibilia's first goal came 2:37 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:34 into the first and at 14:56 into the first.

Springfield led 5-0 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after.

The Pics forced Ice Dogs' goaltenders to work in net, racking up 61 shots and forcing 47 saves. Shawn Horton made 34 stops and Bradley Radin made 13. Springfield surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Pics have scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Springfield also got points from Matthew Antonacci, who also finished with one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Tom Greene, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Riley Green, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Mario Fontanella, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Zachary Smith, who also tallied two goals and two assists, and Christopher Breault, who also registered one goal and three assists. Thane Schinabeck also scored for Springfield. In addition, Springfield received assists from Cameron Beaulieu and Alec Robinson, who each chipped in one, Brandon Korytko and Joe Mercadante, who contributed two a piece, and Conner Brochu, Stefan Koproske, and Zachary Prout, who each chipped in three.

Salem was led by Jonathan Parece, who racked up two goals. Parece scored the first of his two goals at 11:32 into the second period to make the score 5-2 Springfield. Adriani picked up the assist. Parece's next tally made the score 12-3 Springfield with 6:37 left in the third period. Salem also got a goal from Nicholas Latham as well. Other players who recorded assists for Salem were Maximillian DelVento, Tom Laus, and Bennet Curcuru, who contributed one a piece.

Matthew Blascak rejected 20 shots on goal for Springfield. The Pics incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Ice Dogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
