Junior Bruins hangs on, beats Portland 2-0

Junior Bruins took the lead against the Portland Jr Pirates in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory.

Junior Bruins took over the lead for good with a goal by Ryan OToole at 1:24 in the first period. Brian Fahey assisted on the tally.

Junior Bruins was boosted by Sam Dargene, who turned in a shutout with 28 saves. Dargene certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.01 entering the contest.

Junior Bruins was paced by OToole, who tallied one goal.

Junior Bruins excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Junior Bruins could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Junior Bruins averages 4.5 goals per game. Portland was unable to stop Junior Bruins from sending pucks towards the net, and Junior Bruins eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Zachary Byczko also scored for Junior Bruins.

The Jr Pirates stifled Junior Bruins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Portland was held below its usual level of production. The Jr Pirates put an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game.

Junior Bruins incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Maxwell Boucher rejected 34 shots on goal for Portland. The Jr Pirates incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
