New Hampshire holds on for 4-3 win against Islanders

The New Hampshire Jr Monarchs survived a determined comeback attempt by Islanders on the way to a 4-3 win.

New Hampshire took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Islanders storm back on a Christopher Maksut goal 19:12 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

In a losing effort, Islanders was led by Maksut, who registered two goals. Maksut scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:25 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Islanders earned a power play opportunity when James Jamieson was put in the box for roughing. William Platt provided the assist. Maksut's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 New Hampshire with 48 seconds left in the third period. Thomas Missert assisted on the tally.

The Jr Monarchs forced Islanders goalie Michael Kitts to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. New Hampshire was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of 10 man advantages. The Jr Monarchs found themselves short handed often, totaling 36 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

New Hampshire was helped by Nicholas McNally, who finished with one goal. McNally scored on the power play 16:59 into the third period to make the score New Hampshire. The Jr Monarchs had taken the advantage when Islanders' Platt got sent off for boarding. Davis Algra also scored for New Hampshire. More assists for New Hampshire came via Adriano Mungioli, who had two and Connor Merrick, Ross Mandigo, Nate OBrien, and Christopher Moquin, who contributed one a piece.

Islanders' offense rang up 38 shots on New Hampshire's net. Islanders was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 20 penalty minutes.

Islanders also got a goal from Justin Fisher as well. Other players who recorded assists for Islanders were Jonathan Pate and Keith Barnaby, who each chipped in one.

Cole Burack recorded 35 saves for the Jr Monarchs. Islanders' Kitts stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced.
