Wilson's goals lift Boston Bandits to 8-1 victory over Portland

Boston Bandits relied on the scoring touch of Raymond Wilson, who netted two goals, to beat the Portland Jr Pirates, 8-1.

Wilson found the back of the net on the power play 6:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Boston Bandits and again while on the power play 9:17 into the first to make the score 2-0 Boston Bandits.

Boston Bandits' Brett Smith was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Smith managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.07 prior to the game.

Boston Bandits forced Portland's netminders to work without much rest, ripping 41 shots and forcing 33 saves. Cam Riddle made 21 stops and Christopher Storey made 12. Boston Bandits put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr Pirates to score on any of their five power plays. Boston Bandits outdid its season average for goals scored. Boston Bandits averages 4.8 goals per game. Boston Bandits got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Boston Bandits was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes.

Boston Bandits also got points from Connor Sweeney, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Boston Bandits also got a goal from Matthew Grzybinski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Boston Bandits were Brandon Seal, who had four, John Malewicz, Erik Hajdu, and Connor Graham, who each chipped in one, and Colton Hutton, Derek Ridgway, and Connor Wiggins, who contributed two a piece.

Portland's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in four goals to Boston Bandits' power play unit. The Jr Pirates could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 46 minutes in penalties during the game.
