Atlanta rips Hampton Roads, 8-2

The Atlanta Knights had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over the Hampton Roads Whalers.

Austin Ventura quarterbacked Atlanta's offense to perfection and bagged four assists in the Knights' win over Hampton Roads.

Atlanta forced the Whalers' netminders to work without much rest, launching 34 shots and forcing 26 saves. Tyler Kraft made 18 stops and Taylor Brost made eight. The Knights put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Hampton Roads to score on any of its five power plays. Atlanta found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Knights have scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Atlanta were also effective in the Whalers' zone, and came away with three goals. The Knights could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Atlanta additionally got points from harris m, who also had one goal and two assists, Patrick MacDonald, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Nick Elliott, who also registered one goal and one assist. Daniel Fendius also scored for Atlanta. In addition, Atlanta received assists from Jack Trischett, who had one and Cole Stallard, who had three.

Hampton Roads' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Whalers finished with 32 penalty minutes.

Hampton Roads was led by Zachary McDaniel, who tallied one goal and one assist. McDaniel scored 19:49 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Atlanta. Hampton Roads also got a goal from Jeremy Wilson as well.

Sean Davis recorded 20 saves for Atlanta. The Knights registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
