Boston Bandits uses big second period to beat Portland, 9-0

The Portland Jr Pirates was within striking distance after one period, but Boston Bandits put the pedal down in the second en route to a 9-0 victory.

Boston Bandits' offense was sparked by Davis Zembergs, as he ended with four assists in a victory against Portland.

Boston Bandits excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Boston Bandits' defense was surprisingly good. Boston Bandits averages 2.7 goals allowed per game. Boston Bandits kept the Jr Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Maxwell Boucher made 45 saves on 54 shots. Boston Bandits found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Boston Bandits averages 4.7 goals per contest. Boston Bandits could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Portland could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Jr Pirates average 2.6 goals per game. Portland could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 52 minutes in penalties during the game.

Ryan McCarthy rejected 23 shots on goal for Boston Bandits. Boston Bandits registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. For the Jr Pirates, Robert Downing was ejected from the game.
