Pard leads Frederick over Buffalo, 9-4

Zachary Pard was all over the ice for the Frederick Freeze, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Frederick's 9-4 win over the Buffalo Stars.

Pard found the back of the net 9:47 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Frederick and again while 18:31 into the second to make the score 5-3 Frederick.

Buffalo's nine penalties came back to haunt it, as the Stars let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Freeze were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and two majors for 46 minutes in penalty time. Frederick had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Freeze forced Buffalo's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 55 shots and forcing 46 saves. Lawson Fenton made 40 stops and Thomas Brown made six. Frederick found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Freeze average 5.1 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Frederick additionally got points from Reid Bibb, who also had two goals and two assists and Ian Soifer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Frederick included Adam Taylor, who had two and Michael Shearer and Adam Gnatowski, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Frederick were Logan Coomes, who had four, Eric Gausseres, Richard Novodomec, and Florian Cotera, who each chipped in one, and Casey Donegan and James Stiles, who contributed two a piece.

The Stars forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Buffalo surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Stars surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Buffalo averages 1.5 goal per contest.

The Stars were led by John Colvin, who tallied two goals and one assist. Colvin scored the first of his two goals at 1:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Buffalo. Justice Rogers provided the assist. Colvin's next tally made the score 4-3 Frederick with 10:42 left in the second period. Brennan Conway also scored for Buffalo. More assists for Buffalo came via Anthony Avarello, Matt Cohen, Michael Harris, and Leo Blore, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Dolliver recorded 21 saves for Frederick. Team's Shearer and Cotera were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Buffalo registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. The Stars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brendan Brown was ejected from the game.
