Maksymum survives penalties, beats Buffalo, 5-2Holiday Twin Rinks Wed, Jan 16, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Buffalo Stars failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Maksymum Junior Hockey (Rochester) shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2. Maksymum was led by Kevin DiMagno, who racked up one goal and one assist. DiMagno scored on the power play 14:41 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Maksymum. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) had gotten the advantage when Buffalo's Matt Cohen was sent off for cross checking. Dylan Versage assisted on the tally. The Stars were unable to stop Maksymum from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Hockey (Rochester) eventually piled up 56 shots on goal. Maksymum's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Junior Hockey (Rochester) finished with 22 penalty minutes. Maksymum additionally got points from Cam Cook, who also had one goal and one assist, Christopher Molnar, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Versage, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Seth Giles, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Maksymum were Justus Nowak, who had two and Daniel Goldstein, Michael Whitehair, and Thomas Grammatico, who contributed one a piece. Buffalo was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of nine man advantages. Ian Sylves recorded 15 saves for Maksymum. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Stars' Lawson Fenton stopped 51 shots out of the 56 that he faced. Buffalo incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
