South Shore uses early goal to top Bay State, 3-1

The South Shore Kings beat the Bay State Breakers, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Arturs Buss provided South Shore with the game-winning tally when he scored 16:19 into the the first period. Stephen Rocchio picked up the assist.

The Kings were sparked by Buss, who racked up one goal and one assist.

South Shore's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Bay State power plays. The Kings forced Bay State goalie Redmund Hunt to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

South Shore also got points from Rocchio, who also registered one goal and one assist. Philip Falkof also scored for South Shore. In addition, South Shore received assists from Daniel Clifford, who had one and Evan Jacques, who had two.

The Breakers stifled South Shore's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Bay State was held below its usual level of production. The Breakers average 4.0 goals per game.

Bay State was led by Alex Soviero, who scored the team's only goal. Soviero scored 9:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nicholas Russo provided the assist.

The Kings' James Dunn stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. South Shore incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hunt rejected 28 shots on goal for the Breakers. Bay State incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
