Andersson leads Jersey Wildcats over Connecticut, 7-4

Erik Andersson had two goals and three assists to lead Jersey Wildcats to a 7-4 victory over the Connecticut Oilers.

Andersson's tallies came at 6:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Jersey Wildcats and 15:04 into the first to make the score 4-0 Jersey Wildcats.

Jersey Wildcats' penalty kill excelled, as Jersey Wildcats gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Jersey Wildcats forced Oilers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 42 shots and forcing 35 saves. Christopher Bastone made 29 stops and Millendorf made six. Jersey Wildcats surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Jersey Wildcats averages 3.7 goals per game.

Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Jack Green, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jersey Wildcats also had goals scored by Cory DeCosta, who had two and Austin Nye and Ryan Morse, who each put in one. In addition, Jersey Wildcats received assists from Ryan Strapp, who had two and John Buckley, Joseph Rametta, Zachary Chamberlain, Brandon Crawley, Geoffrey Liter, and Ryan Demgard, who each chipped in one.

Connecticut's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Jersey Wildcats power plays. The Oilers' offense rang up 43 shots on Jersey Wildcats' net.

Connecticut was helped by Thomas Worsfold, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Worsfold scored on the power play 12:18 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Jersey Wildcats. The Oilers had gotten the advantage when Jersey Wildcats' DeCosta was sent off for tripping. Erik Nergaard assisted on the tally. Connecticut also got points from Philip Prins, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Tommy Green, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Connecticut were Stephan Seeger, who had three.

Jersey Wildcats' Grant Perry stopped 39 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Jersey Wildcats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Connecticut incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
