Suffolk survives penalties, beats Florida Eels, 3-1

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Suffolk Juniors were able to defeat Florida Eels, 3-1.

Suffolk did not waste many scoring chances, needing only three shots to achieve its goal tally.

The Juniors were sparked by Matthew Gault, who grabbed one goal. Gault scored 13:56 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Suffolk. Donato Cipriano assisted on the tally.

Suffolk was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 20 penalty minutes.

Suffolk additionally got points from Nicholas Randazzo, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cameron Smith also scored for Suffolk. In addition, Suffolk received assists from Nicholas Mangone, Michael Leone, and Christopher Stemke, who contributed one a piece.

Florida Eels stifled the Juniors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Florida Eels did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Florida Eels averages 4.3 goals per game.

Florida Eels was led by Jonathan Carlson, who scored the team's only goal. Carlson scored on the power play 18:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Suffolk. A roughing penalty on Joseph Duszak had put Florida Eels on the power play. Matthew Kiesel picked up the assist.

Suffolk registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Florida Eels incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
