Philadelphia shrugs off penalties, upends Potomac, 8-0Floyd Hall Arena Fri, Sep 14, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Philadelphia Revolution were able to defeat the Potomac Patriots, 8-0. Philadelphia was led by Joseph Kotlarczyk, who grabbed one goal. Kotlarczyk scored 3:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Philadelphia. William Hayden provided the assist. The Revolution stifled Potomac's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Patriots were unable to stop Philadelphia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Revolution eventually piled up 51 shots on goal. Philadelphia's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals. The Revolution's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Philadelphia finished with 16 penalty minutes. Philadelphia also got points from Hayden, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Philadelphia also had goals scored by Zachary England, who had two and Travis Kauffman, Donald Willier, Daniel Coley, and Anthony Carbone, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Philadelphia were Connor Bechtel, Clint Aussprung, Dylan Pearl, and Chris Connor, who contributed one a piece and Jeffery Mitchell and Justin Goldstein, who each chipped in two. Potomac did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting nine shots on net to force nine saves. The Patriots found themselves short handed often, totaling 36 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays. Justin Kirk made nine saves for the Revolution on nine shots. Patrick Anderson rejected 43 shots on goal for Potomac. The Patriots registered zero goals on seven power play opportunities. For Potomac, Noah Rubin was ejected from the game.
