Wilson leads Hampton Roads over Salem, 10-2

Jeremy Wilson had one goal and four assists to lead the Hampton Roads Whalers to a 10-2 victory over the Salem Ice Dogs.

Wilson beat Bradley Radin with a shot 10 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hampton Roads. Jonathon Jones picked up the assist. Wilson dished an assist on Jones' goal that made the score 2-0 Hampton Roads at 5:33 into the first period. He then added assists on Jacob Toro's goal at 6:56 into the first, on Jones' goal at 4:07 into the second, and on Nathan Kanter's goal at 24:56 into the second.

Salem was unable to stop Hampton Roads from sending pucks towards the net, and the Whalers eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Hampton Roads found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Whalers average 4.1 goals per contest. Hampton Roads' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals.

Hampton Roads also got points from Toro, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Jones, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, Michael Addison, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Alexander Dempsey, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Kanter, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Regen Cavanagh, who also had one goal and one assist. Hampton Roads also got a goal from Phoenix Dreer as well. More assists for Hampton Roads came via Samuel Jenkins, who had two and Maxwell Milutinovich, Craig Boyd, and Adam Choc, who contributed one a piece.

The Ice Dogs were led by David Spry, who tallied one goal and one assist. Spry scored on the power play 17:16 into the second period to make the score 8-2 Hampton Roads. Salem earned a power play opportunity when Toro was put in the box for holding. Bennet Curcuru provided the assist. Christopher Minter also scored for Salem. Other players who recorded assists for Salem were Jonathan Parece, who had one.

Brett Fordham made 11 saves before being replaced by Tyler Kraft, who took the win and made 12 saves. The Whalers totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors and went 1-for-1 on the power play. Radin rejected 35 shots on goal for the Ice Dogs. Salem incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
