Culot's goals lift Valley to 7-2 victory over East Coast

The Valley Junior Warriors relied on the scoring touch of Matthew Culot, who netted two goals, to beat the East Coast Eagles, 7-2.

Culot scored at 23:27 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 8:38 into the second to make the score 3-1 Valley.

Valley stifled East Coast's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Eagles were unable to stop the Junior Warriors from sending pucks towards the net, and Valley eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Junior Warriors bested their season scoring average. Valley averages 3.9 goals per game.

Valley additionally got points from Luke Miller, who also grabbed four goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Connor Donahue also scored for Valley. In addition, Valley received assists from Brendan Heinze, who had three and Rory OConnor and Nathan Shirley, who contributed one a piece.

East Coast put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Junior Warriors to score on any of their three power plays. The Eagles' offense rang up 45 shots on Valley's net.

East Coast was helped by Collin Duffy, who registered one goal. Duffy scored 13:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 East Coast. East Coast also got a goal from Matthew Burleson as well.

Matt Pearless recorded 43 saves for the Junior Warriors. Valley incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ryan Taylor made 31 saves for the Eagles on 38 shots. East Coast incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
