Valley blows out Salem, 4-0

The Salem Ice Dogs had trouble finding ways to stop the Valley Junior Warriors, which beat Ice Dogs, 4-0.
Valley got the win on the strength of a great game by Rory OConnor, who had two goals and one assist. OConnor scored the first of his two goals at 15:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Valley. Matthew Culot picked up the assist. OConnor's next tally made the score 4-0 Valley with 8:53 left in the third period. Culot provided the assist.
The Junior Warriors' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Salem power plays. Salem was unable to stop Valley from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Warriors eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.
Valley also got points from Culot, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Valley also got a goal from Brendan Heinze as well. In addition, Valley received assists from Connor Donahue, Michael McWeeney, and Luke Miller, who contributed one a piece.
The Ice Dogs stifled Valley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Salem was held below its usual level of production. The Ice Dogs put an average of 2.2 pucks into the net per game.
Matt Pearless rejected 18 shots on goal for the Junior Warriors. Valley incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Shawn Horton recorded 34 saves for Salem. The Ice Dogs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
