Mitchell's hat trick boosts Brewster over Buffalo, 10-4

A hat trick by Joseph Mitchell was the highlight in Bulldogs' 10-4 win against the Buffalo Stars.

Mitchell notched his first tally 3:15 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:46 into the first and at 12:14 into the second.

The Brewster Bulldogs scored early and often, and held a 5-1 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

Brewster made Stars' goalies to work all game long, getting 49 shots and forcing 39 saves. Lawson Fenton made 36 stops and Thomas Brown made three. The Bulldogs outdid their season average for goals scored. Brewster has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Brewster additionally got points from Kevin McGee, who also registered one goal and two assists and Sean Henderson, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Brewster included Robert VanRaamsdonk, who had two and Christopher Litwin, Brad Alexander, and Owen Gatto, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Brewster were Francesco Sherding, who had one, Brett Barry, who had two, and Brian Schiff, who had three.

Buffalo stifled the Bulldogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Stars surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Buffalo averages 1.4 goal per contest.

The Stars were helped by Brandon Boyle, who had one goal and one assist. Boyle scored on the power play 18:44 into the third period to make the score 10-4 Brewster. Buffalo earned a power play opportunity when Gatto was put in the box for hooking. Buffalo also got points from Patrick Schmelzinger, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Nicholas Ciavarella as well. More assists for Buffalo came via Justice Rogers and Leo Blore, who contributed one a piece.

Brewster's starting goalie, Brandon Belz, made 17 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Conor Bunyan, who stopped zero shots. The Bulldogs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Stars totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Buffalo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler States was ejected from the game.
