Tampa Bay survives Florida Eels comeback, wins 5-3

The Tampa Bay Juniors survived a determined comeback attempt by Florida Eels on the way to a 5-3 win.

A goal by Jesse Bafia put Tampa Bay up 5-1 in the third period, but Florida Eels pulled to within two on Daniel Boyd's tally 17:11 into the third period.

Raven Woodring had one goal and two assists to lead the Juniors. Woodring scored short handed 19:21 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Tampa Bay. A hooking call on Tucker Barone put Tampa Bay on the penalty kill.

The Juniors' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Florida Eels power plays. Tampa Bay could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Tampa Bay additionally got points from Bafia, who also finished with two goals and one assist and Ryan Odgers, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Tampa Bay received assists from Kurt Williams, Brett Vargas, and Ed Kawczak, who contributed one a piece.

The Juniors were unable to stop Florida Eels from sending pucks towards the net, and Florida Eels eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Florida Eels was helped by Matthew Kiesel, who tallied one goal. Kiesel scored 17:58 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Tampa Bay. Reid Halabi picked up the assist. Florida Eels also got points from Boyd, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Florida Eels also got a goal from Cameron Salander as well. Other players who recorded assists for Florida Eels were Patrick Daniels, who had one and Jonathan Carlson, who had two.

Emil Eriksson made 28 saves for Tampa Bay on 31 shots. The Juniors registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Marc Terriault rejected 22 shots on goal for Florida Eels. Florida Eels incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
