NY AppleCore rides Mutschin to victory over Brewster, 5-1Brewster Ice Arena Tue, Jan 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Christoph Mutschin helped the NY AppleCore Minor B defeat the Brewster Bulldogs, 5-1. NY AppleCore's penalty kill excelled, as the Minor B gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. NY AppleCore was sparked by Nolan Pues, who grabbed one goal. Pues scored on the power play 14:34 into the second period to make the score 2-1 NY AppleCore. The Minor B had gotten the advantage when Brewster's Blaze Vogliano was sent off for checking from behind. Dominick Sacco picked up the assist. NY AppleCore stifled the Bulldogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Minor B forced Brewster goalie Conor Bunyan to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. NY AppleCore's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Minor B finished with 24 penalty minutes. NY AppleCore also got points from James Sharpe, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Cale Schoenberg, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Jonas Toupal also scored for NY AppleCore. Other players who recorded assists for NY AppleCore were Cameron Giertych, John Stevenson, Liam Pues, Nicolas Jasmin, Blake Manginell, and Robert DeLury, who contributed one a piece. The Bulldogs' offense operated below they season average. Brewster puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Bulldogs were led by Christopher Litwin, who scored the team's only goal. Litwin scored 7:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brewster. Zach Cassano provided the assist. Christoph Mutschin made 28 saves for NY AppleCore on 29 shots. The Minor B registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Bunyan recorded 31 saves for Brewster. The Bulldogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
