The Bay State Breakers' Ryan ODonnell had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 3-1 win over the Portland Jr Pirates. ODonnell's tallies came at 6:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 7:40 into the second to make the score 3-1 Bay State.Portland was stymied by Bay State netminder Redmund Hunt, who stopped 34 shots during the victory. The solid play of Hunt will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.57. The Breakers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Portland power plays. Bay State's offense rang up 42 shots on the Jr Pirates' net. Dan Gibbons also scored for Bay State. More assists for Bay State came via Derek Fiske, Alex Soviero, Thomas Cahill, Connor Duffy, and Nicholas Russo, who contributed one a piece. Portland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Jr Pirates forced the Breakers goalie Hunt to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Portland was led by Robert Downing, who scored the team's only goal. Downing scored 4:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Portland. Jason Harmon provided the assist. Bay State incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Maxwell Boucher rejected 39 shots on goal for the Jr Pirates. Portland incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
