Atlanta hangs on, beats Palm Beach 2-1

Cole Stallard scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Atlanta Knights held off the challenges of the Palm Beach Hawks in a tough 2-1 win.

A goal 24:17 into the the first period by Stallard proved to be the game winner, and powered Atlanta to the victory Nick Elliott picked up the assist.

The Knights' penalty kill excelled, as Atlanta gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Knights were paced by Sage Dugas, who registered one goal. Dugas scored 8:29 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Atlanta. Alex MacInnis provided the assist.

Atlanta was held below its usual level of production. The Knights average 4.3 goals per game. Atlanta kept Palm Beach's goalie busy throughout the game, and David Kutnar made 36 saves on 38 shots.

In addition, Atlanta received assists from Rick Fiorillo, who had one.

The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Atlanta power plays.

Palm Beach was led by Anthony Lerette, who scored the team's only goal. Lerette scored on the power play 20:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Atlanta. The Hawks earned a power play opportunity when Elliott was put in the box for roughing. Joseph Lambert assisted on the tally.

The Knights' Sean Davis stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Atlanta incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Palm Beach incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
