East Coast vanquishes Tampa Bay in shootout, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the East Coast Eagles defeated the Tampa Bay Juniors in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

Zachary Mabie had two goals to lead East Coast to victory. Mabie found the back of the net 15:02 into the first period to make the score 2-1 East Coast and again while 23:52 into the first to make the score 3-1 East Coast.

The Eagles kept Tampa Bay's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Gertz made 33 saves on 38 shots.

Brandon Stanley also scored for East Coast. More assists for East Coast came via Matthew Burleson, Chase Horn, Shane Selan, Connor Sheehey, Bailey King, Thomas Gilmartin, and Christopher Grosvenor, who contributed one a piece.

East Coast was unable to stop the Juniors from sending pucks towards the net, and Tampa Bay eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

The Juniors were helped by Nicholas Mattone, who tallied one goal. Mattone scored 12:09 into the second period to make the score 4-4. Nicholas Frankich assisted on the tally. Tampa Bay also got a goal from Brent Barber as well. In addition, Tampa Bay received assists from Nicholas Reed, Mason Bates, Brendan Nicholson, and Raven Woodring, who each chipped in one.

The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tampa Bay incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
