Tuttle nets hat trick, leads Valley to 6-3 win over Portland

Brandon Tuttle lifted the Valley Junior Warriors to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Portland Jr Pirates.

Tuttle got on the scoresheet 13:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:43 into the first and at 19:30 into the second.

Valley's offense rang up 42 shots on Portland's net. The Junior Warriors found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Valley averages 3.9 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Valley also got points from Brendan Heinze, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Timothy Perron also scored for Valley. More assists for Valley came via Matthew Culot, who had two, Michael McWeeney, who had three, and Connor Donahue, Mitchell Moran, Rory OConnor, Andrew Sousa, and Lincoln Vamos, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr Pirates forced Junior Warriors' goalies to work all game long, totaling 37 shots and forcing 34 saves. Matt Pearless made 21 stops and Matthew Saraceno made 13.

Portland was helped by Nicholas Whitten, who tallied one goal. Whitten scored 19:02 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Valley. Kenneth Richards provided the assist. Portland also got a goal from Liam Slyne as well. In addition, Portland received assists from Robert Downing, Justin Munck, Nick Robinson, Ryan Locke, and Taylor Browne, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Warriors incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Maxwell Boucher made 36 saves for the Jr Pirates on 42 shots. Portland incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
