Maksymum downs Syracuse in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Maksymum Junior Hockey (Rochester) pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Syracuse Junior Stars on a clutch goal by Gregory Miller.

Miller was all over the ice for Maksymum, as he racked up two goals in the win. Miller scored at 8:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Maksymum and again while 1:08 into the fourth to make the score 4-3 Maksymum.

The Junior Hockey (Rochester) kept Syracuse's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nate Skidmore made 45 saves on 49 shots. Maksymum's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Junior Stars' power play unit.

Maksymum also got a goal from Dylan Versage as well. In addition, Maksymum received assists from Bryan Carville, who had two, Kevin DiMagno, who had three, and Daniel Goldstein, Austin Harding, and Michael Whitehair, who contributed one a piece.

Syracuse put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Junior Hockey (Rochester) to score on any of their four power plays. Maksymum was unable to stop the Junior Stars from sending pucks towards the net, and Syracuse eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

The Junior Stars were helped by Jesse Farabee, who registered one goal and two assists. Farabee scored on the power play 3:23 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on William Holbrook had put Syracuse on the power play. Anthony Angello assisted on the tally. Syracuse additionally got points from Tyler OMara, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Angello, who also grabbed one goal and two assists.

Ian Sylves recorded 39 saves for the Junior Hockey (Rochester). Maksymum incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Junior Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
