Fontanella's hat trick boosts Springfield over Bay State, 8-6

A hat trick by Mario Fontanella was the highlight in Pics' 8-6 win against the Bay State Breakers.

Fontanella's first goal came 3:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:04 into the first and at 4:11 into the third.

The Springfield Pics excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Springfield's offense rang up 46 shots on Bay State's net. The Pics outdid their season average for goals scored. Springfield averages 3.6 goals per game.

Springfield additionally got points from Christopher Sattler, who also had three goals and two assists and Stefan Koproske, who also registered one goal and three assists. Springfield also got a goal from William Carrabino as well. In addition, Springfield received assists from Cameron Beaulieu, Nicholas Sibilia, Conner Brochu, and Riley Green, who contributed one a piece and Logan Schinabeck and Matthew Antonacci, who each chipped in two.

The Pics were unable to stop the Breakers from sending pucks towards the net, and Bay State eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Breakers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Bay State was led by Gavin Yates, who tallied three goals and one assist. Others who scored for Bay State included Kevin Sheehan, who had one and Christopher Perry, who had two. More assists for Bay State came via Ryan ODonnell, who had two and Charles Murphy, Henry Nelson, Christopher Duffy, Aaron Fiske, Connor Duffy, and Redmund Hunt, who contributed one a piece.

Springfield's Matthew Blascak stopped 33 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Pics totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Redmund Hunt made 38 saves for the Breakers on 46 shots. Bay State incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
