Islanders' Barnaby deadly on offense in 3-1 win against New Hampshire

Islanders relied on the scoring touch of Keith Barnaby, who netted two goals, to beat the New Hampshire Jr Monarchs, 3-1.

Barnaby's tallies came on the power play at 4:43 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and 5:36 into the second to make the score 2-1 Islanders.

Islanders was led by goalie Brenden Tidman, who finished with 36 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Tidman will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.33.

Islanders forced New Hampshire goalie Cole Burack to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Thomas Missert also scored for Islanders. Other players who recorded assists for Islanders were David Wilcox, who had two and Nicholas McNally and Cody Reagan, who each chipped in one.

The Jr Monarchs were held below their usual level of production. New Hampshire puts an average of 5.5 pucks into the net per game. The Jr Monarchs' offense rang up 37 shots on Islanders' net.

New Hampshire was led by Ty Anderson, who scored the team's only goal. Anderson scored on the power play 18:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hampshire. The Jr Monarchs had gained a power play chance when Missert was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct. Connor Merrick picked up the assist.

Islanders incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. New Hampshire's Burack stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Jr Monarchs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
