Syracuse wins tough contest against Maksymum, 3-2

The game between the Syracuse Junior Stars and the Maksymum Junior Hockey (Rochester) was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Syracuse emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tyler OMara at 17:08 of the third period.

The Junior Stars were led by OMara, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Syracuse put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Maksymum to score on any of its five power plays. The Junior Stars' offense rang up 35 shots on the Junior Hockey (Rochester)'s net.

Syracuse also got points from Anthony Angello, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Matt Madden also scored for Syracuse. Other players who recorded assists for Syracuse were Jesse Farabee, who had two and Tom Nicholson and Conner Doren, who each chipped in one.

Maksymum's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Syracuse power plays. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) kept Syracuse's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Schneider made 34 saves on 36 shots.

Maksymum was helped by Holvey, who registered one goal and one assist. Holvey scored 3:34 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Michael Whitehair picked up the assist. Maksymum additionally got points from Whitehair, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Maksymum came via Justus Nowak and Bryan Carville, who contributed one a piece.

The Junior Stars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ian Sylves recorded 32 saves for the Junior Hockey (Rochester). Maksymum incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
