Nicholson's goals lift Syracuse to 3-1 victory over Suffolk

Tom Nicholson was all over the ice for the Syracuse Junior Stars, as he tallied two goals in Syracuse's 3-1 win over the Suffolk Juniors.

Nicholson found the back of the net 19:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Syracuse and again while 16:13 into the third to make the score 3-1 Syracuse.

The Junior Stars' Nate Skidmore was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 59 saves and let only one puck past him. Skidmore certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.27 entering the contest.

Syracuse pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes.

The Junior Stars forced Suffolk goalie Daniel Potter to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Syracuse got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Syracuse also got points from Anthony Angello, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Syracuse received assists from Nicholas Mercurio and Garth Gray, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Stars were unable to stop the Juniors from sending pucks towards the net, and Suffolk eventually piled up 60 shots on goal.

The Juniors were led by Christopher Seeback, who scored the team's only goal. Seeback scored on the power play 9:56 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Suffolk had gained a power play chance when Jesse Farabee was whistled for tripping. Nicholas Mangone picked up the assist.

Syracuse registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Potter recorded 39 saves for the Juniors. Suffolk incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
