Bay State survives penalties, beats Valley, 6-3

The Valley Junior Warriors failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Bay State Breakers shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-3.

Bay State was led by Henry Nelson, who registered one goal. Nelson scored 13:59 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Bay State. Christopher Perry provided the assist.

In the losing effort, Valley was led by Luke Miller, who racked up two goals. Miller scored the first of his two goals short handed at 8:53 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brendan Heinze assisted on the tally. Miller's next tally short handed made the score 2-1 Valley with 4:16 left in the first period. Brandon Tuttle provided the assist.

The Breakers kept the Junior Warriors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matthew Saraceno made 35 saves on 41 shots. Bay State's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals.

Bay State additionally got points from John Duranczyk, who also had one goal and one assist, Gavin Yates, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Ryan ODonnell, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Nicholas Russo, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Bay State received assists from Alex Soviero, who had two and Derek Fiske, Cameron MacDonald, and Kevin Sheehan, who each chipped in one.

Valley's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Bay State power plays. The Junior Warriors' offense rang up 42 shots on the Breakers' net.

Mitchell Moran also scored for Valley.

Matthew Farrell rejected 39 shots on goal for Bay State. The Breakers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Valley incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
