Potomac downs East Coast in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Potomac Patriots' Kyle Powers scored 4:55 into overtime to beat the East Coast Eagles, 4-3 (OT).

Potomac overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Patriots fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by East Coast's Bailey King at 18:42 in the first period. Potomac tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Collin Duffy at 18:58 in the third period.

The the Patriots penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game Potomac had been spending in the box. The Patriots kept the Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cory Lignelli made 35 saves on 39 shots.

Potomac also got a goal from Micah Dabao as well. In addition, Potomac received assists from Robert Stone, who had three and Miles Miller and Noah Rubin, who each chipped in one.

East Coast racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 15 minors and two majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. The Eagles surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Potomac was unable to stop East Coast from sending pucks towards the net, and the Eagles eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Team could not crack the Patriots' penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

East Coast was helped by Kyle Levere, who finished with one goal. Levere scored 11:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 East Coast. Duffy picked up the assist. East Coast also got points from Duffy, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for East Coast came via Shane Selan, Jacob Weldon, Thomas Gilmartin, and Christopher Grosvenor, who contributed one a piece.

Derek Guzik rejected 33 shots on goal for Potomac. The Patriots registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. For the Eagles, Grosvenor was ejected from the game.
