Schneider, Syracuse blank Suffolk, 5-0

Matt Schneider recorded a shutout against the Suffolk Juniors as the Syracuse Junior Stars picked up a 5-0 win.

Syracuse was paced by Kyle Bird, who tallied one goal. Bird scored 43 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Syracuse. Steven Staversky provided the assist.

The Junior Stars made Juniors' netminders to work between the pipes, totaling 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Daniel Potter made eight stops and Peter Fosso made 25. Syracuse's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Suffolk power plays.

Syracuse also got points from Tyler OMara, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Nate Zweig, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Anthony Angello, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Mike Seifert, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Syracuse came via Garth Gray, who had one and Joey Rutkowski, who had three.

Suffolk was held below its usual level of production. The Juniors put an average of 2.8 pucks into the net per game. Suffolk's offense rang up 45 shots on the Junior Stars' net.

Schneider recorded 45 saves for Syracuse. The Junior Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Juniors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
